2020 - A year in review

Blue Print Finds Its ‘MoJo’!

At the beginning of 2020, our Sales and Marketing Manager Maureen Bott (Mo) announced that she was retiring from her position at Blue Print at the end of March. The search for her replacement then began in earnest and that was when Blue Print found its ‘MoJo’!! Jo Widdowson, who is now the current Sales and Marketing Manager joined us in February with her first 6 weeks shadowing Mo in the role. This transition had a little bump in the road due to the Coronavirus pandemic and Jo had to change our usual tactics and ironically use digital methods to market a print business. In the 10 months that Jo has joined the business, she has been working on expanding the range of services we offer our clients which means we can source and supply B2B and B2C data and offer a wider range of print other than for direct mail and bulk distribution purposes. We are looking to expand these further in 2021 with social media and digital marketing management, and expanded provision of fulfilment for promotional products.

The Coronavirus Outbreak

We feel very fortunate for the position we have been in throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. In the first lockdown we were classed as an essential business, meaning that we could remain open to continue supporting our clients with their printing requirements. We furloughed 6 members of staff on a rotational basis to help protect our employees from redundancy and keep everyone as safe as possible. All furloughed staff made a phased return to work at the end of June. During the first lockdown we remained busy which was fantastic considering the circumstances. Since then, we have experienced a buoyant trading period and taken on new staff, which leads us to our next point.

New Talent

This year hasn’t got in the way of the determination from our apprentices, Amy, Courtney and Dawid who all passed their apprenticeships with flying colours this year. Amy, Courtney and Dawid are all continuing developing into their roles and remain permanent, valued members of our team, we are very proud of them all for their fantastic results. This year we have taken on three new apprentices, Rosie, Hannah, and Rob, who are expected to finish their apprenticeships in 2022. Our new apprentices have already settled in perfectly and we are so happy to have them as part of our team. We have also taken on a new artworker, Anna, who creates designs for both in-house use and for our clients. Out With The Old, In With The New

Since we moved into our new premises at the end of 2019, we hadn’t fully utilised all the space so with some of the offices being empty this year, it gave us the perfect opportunity to get some decorating done and move our individual departments into their permanent new locations. We hope that in the near future some of you will be able to come and pay us a visit to see it in person!

Quality Assured

After two days of intense auditing by LRQA we were successful in being recertified for ISO9001 quality and ISO14001 environmental standards. Quality and the environment are at the forefront of our operations at Blue Print Direct Mail, priding ourselves in the quality of our work and operations. Certification to these standards helps us to ensure we have robust systems in place to deliver excellence to our customers and ensuring their requirements are met and even exceed their expectations. We also remain certified in ISO27001 and have our next audit for that accreditation next year.
